TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — A 20-year-old man, surnamed Hong, allegedly attacked passengers with a fruit knife at the Taichung City Hall Metro Station (台中捷運市政府站) on Tuesday (May 21), injuring two individuals.

Lin Shin Hospital's (林新醫院) Deputy Medical Director, Huang Yung-cheng (黃永鎮), reported that the victims suffered from lacerations to the left face, right shoulder, and right chest.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who also sustained a laceration to his right thumb, was emotionally agitated upon receiving medical care but did not exhibit any aggressive behavior, Huang said.

Huang revealed that the suspect was emotionally agitated when he came for treatment but showed no aggressive behavior. His condition is now stable, and he is awaiting surgery while under police interrogation.

The victims are not expected to suffer permanent damage, though further assessments will be needed to confirm their conditions.

Taichung City Government Police Department Commissioner Lee Wen-chang (李文章) mentioned that the suspect might suffer from a psychotic disorder. He did not know the two victims; whether the attack was random, is still under investigation.
