TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) expressed concern on Friday (May 24) over the gatherings of people outside the Legislative Yuan (立法院) during recent legislative sessions.

Cho emphasized the importance of allowing the public to voice their concerns about the nation's future and instructed the National Police Agency to closely monitor the situation to ensure safety.

Cho reminded police officers that their primary duty is to protect the people and urged them to ensure the safety of those participating in the gatherings.

This statement came as he inspected the Criminal Investigation Bureau's efforts against fraud, highlighting the significant impact of their "165 anti-fraud hotline." Cho praised the police force for their dedication and the positive outcomes of their anti-fraud campaigns.

In 2023, the bureau's anti-fraud initiatives reached 330 million people, preventing fraud amounting to NT$9.379 billion. Additionally, the bureau successfully cracked down on 2,011 fraud rings, seizing illegal gains totaling NT$4.151 billion.
