TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's EVA Air has been ranked 13th in the "2024 World's Best Airlines" list by global aviation safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com.

The site evaluated 204 airlines based on 12 key indicators, including safety performance, government audits, fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, safety rating, service quality, innovation, and fleet orders.

Qatar Airways emerged as the top airline, displacing 2023's champion, Air New Zealand. The ranking from second to fifth place was occupied by Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand, and Emirates, respectively. American airlines' performance was mediocre in comparison.

AirlineRatings.com's Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas said Qatar Airways won due to positive passenger reviews for its business and economy classes. "The passenger reviews however scored Qatar Airways ahead of all airlines and its consistency and high standard of service delivery came through in the feedback," Thomas said.

AirlineRatings.com also selected the best airlines in various categories. Qatar Airways was chosen as the "Best Business Class" for the fifth consecutive year and won the "Best Catering." Other winners included Air New Zealand (Best Economy Class), Singapore Airlines (Best First Class), Virgin Australia (Best Cabin Crew), Emirates (Best In-Flight Entertainment, Best Premium Economy Class), Qantas (Best Lounges), and Etihad Airways (Best Environmental Airline).

The best low-cost airlines were Southwest Airlines (Americas), Flydubai (Middle East), AirAsia Group (Asia), Jetstar Group (Australia/Pacific), and EasyJet (Europe).
