TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Government plans to announce whether Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan will suspend work and classes due to Typhoon Gaemi on Tuesday (July 23) at 8 p.m. Yin Wei (殷瑋), the city government spokesperson, confirmed that officials will use current platform mechanisms for coordinated and timely communication.

The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) has issued a sea warning for Typhoon Gaemi, predicting the storm will significantly impact Taiwan on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. The Taipei City Government emphasized that decisions regarding work and school cancellations will follow established standards and meteorological reports.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) stated a day earlier that the city government will continuously monitor the typhoon's path. He assured the public that, based on past experiences, the four cities would make a unified and timely announcement. The mayor emphasized the importance of collective consideration and early communication to ensure public safety.

Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan residents should stay tuned for the official announcement. The coordinated efforts aim to provide clear and timely information as Typhoon Gaemi approaches.
