TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Gaemi has caused significant power outages across Taiwan, affecting 488,366 households as of 8 a.m. on Thursday (July 25). Taiwan Power Company (Taipower, 台電) reported that it has restored power to 418,825 households, achieving an 85.8% restoration rate.

Taipower noted that 69,541 households remain without power, primarily in Yunlin County and Kaohsiung City. The company stated, "Depending on the conditions of the ensuing storm and road traffic recovery, repairs will continue."

 

The areas still experiencing outages include 22,177 households in Yunlin County, 16,136 in Kaohsiung City, 6,870 in Nantou County, 5,016 in Tainan City, 4,727 in Hualien County, 3,358 in Yilan County, and 2,446 in Taitung County.

Additional affected regions include 2,068 households in Chiayi County, 1,226 in Hsinchu County, 1,063 in Pingtung County, 889 in New Taipei City, 859 in Changhua County, 812 in Taipei City, 689 in Taichung City, 633 in Keelung City, 358 in Miaoli County, and 214 in Taoyuan City.

Taipower continues efforts to restore power, depending on weather conditions and road accessibility. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay updated on the progress and prepare for potential delays.
