TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's canoe slalom standout Wu Shao-hsuan (吳少璿) failed to advance to the semifinals in the men's K1 heats at the Olympics Games on Tuesday (July 30) Paris time. Despite clocking under 100 seconds, Wu's performance fell short against a highly competitive field.

Wu initially posted a time of 101.22 seconds in the first round, placing 20th. In the second round, he improved to 99.45 seconds, but other competitors' superior times pushed him down to 23rd place. Wu hit the poles three times in the first round and corrected to just one touch in the second round. However, his efforts were insufficient to secure a spot in the top 20.

Wu, 26, is a prominent figure in Taiwan's canoe slalom scene, winning a bronze medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year. Wu began his canoe slalom journey by training with his cousin Chang Chu-han (張筑涵), who competed in the women's K1 event but was eliminated in the first round.

Wu and Chang will next compete in the canoe sprint event, aiming to achieve better results. They will be joined by fellow Taiwanese canoeist Lai Kuan-chieh (賴冠傑), who will also strive for a strong performance.

Stay tuned for their progress as they continue to represent Taiwan on the Olympic stage.
