PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwanese "Boxing Queen" Chen Nien-chin (陳念琴) advanced to the women's 66-kg semifinals at the Olympic Games on Saturday (Aug. 3), securing at least a bronze medal and aiming for a spot in the gold medal match.

"I want more than a bronze medal. I want to continue moving forward," Chen told reporters after the quarter-final match. "I hope everyone enjoys watching me compete. So I'd like to take it one level at a time."

Chen defeated Uzbekistan's Navbakhor Khamidova and will face China's Yang Liu (楊柳) in her next match, who won gold at the 2023 Asian Games and the IBA Women's Boxing World Championships 2023.

Meanwhile, another Taiwanese boxer, Wu Shih-yi (吳詩儀), won bronze in the women's 60-kg division, securing Team Taiwan's second medal at the Games this year and marking her first medal at the Olympics.

In the semifinals, Wu was defeated 5-0 by China's Yang Wenlu (楊文璐). The two faced off at the Asian Games in 2023, with Yang clinching the gold medal.

"I did everything I could by giving it my all because I really wanted to win this match," Wu told reporters in a post-match interview. Still, Taiwanese fans in Paris cheered for Wu, praising her efforts and describing her performance as "truly amazing."
