PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwanese javelin thrower Liu Ya-ting (劉雅婷) expressed confidence on Monday (Aug. 26) about her performance in the Paralympics, stating she is steadily improving and currently managing her injuries well.

Liu, who has been training at the National Sports Training Center (國訓中心) under the guidance of national coach Hsueh Sheng-jung (薛聖融), finds the training beneficial and has made minor adjustments.

Coach Chang Fu-sheng (張福生) has been ensuring Liu receives physical therapy, aiming for her to perform confidently at the Paralympics Games Paris 2024. Chang noted the competitive strength of international opponents and emphasized that Liu's performance on the day would be crucial, hoping she would compete healthily.

Diagnosed with congenital macular degeneration in elementary school, Liu's vision deteriorated, but she found a new path in athletics during high school. Last year, she won a bronze medal in the women's javelin F13 (女子標槍F13級) at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games (杭州亞帕運).

Approaching her fourth Paralympics, Liu will also serve as the flag bearer for Taiwan's delegation alongside table tennis rising star Chen Po-yen (陳柏諺) at the opening ceremony.
