TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The head of Taiwan's Gold Apollo Company (金阿波羅公司) firmly denied allegations on Wednesday (Sept. 18) that the firm supplied the controversial pagers that exploded in the hands of Hezbollah members. President Hsu Ching-kua (許清光) clarified that the devices were produced by a Hungarian agent, "BAC Consulting KFT," and vowed to pursue legal action.

The pagers used by Hezbollah were likely rigged with explosives by Israeli forces to carry out coordinated detonations across Lebanon, leading to at least nine deaths and around 2,800 injuries. Hsu stressed that Gold Apollo had no role in manufacturing these devices.

New Taipei Cityùs Economic Development Department and Xizhi Precinct officers visited the company as part of the ongoing investigation. Hsu revealed that a foreign agent had been representing the brand for the past three years, and while the explosive devices carried the Gold Apollo name, they were not produced by his company. Plans for a cross-border lawsuit are already in motion.

Gold Apollo has a longstanding relationship with BAC Company, authorizing them to sell products under its brand but with BAC handling design and manufacturing. The company clarified that the AR-924 pagers implicated in the incident were produced and sold by BAC. Gold Apollo only provided the brand authorization.

Gold Apollo, capitalized at NT$100 million, specializes in electronic components and telecom equipment. With over 20 years in the wireless paging industry, all its products are 100% Taiwan-made and internationally certified, the company said.
