TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A recent survey conducted by the TVBS Poll Center on Dec. 9-10 reveals significant variations in satisfaction levels with Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) across different age groups and regions. The survey shows increased approval among residents aged 20-29, while those aged 30-39 expressed notable dissatisfaction.

Residents aged 20-29 report an 8-percentage point increase in satisfaction, reaching 57%. However, 30% of those aged 30-39 express dissatisfaction, a higher rate than other age groups. In the Madou (麻豆) and Jiali (佳里) areas, satisfaction stands at 64%, marking a nearly 10% increase since Huang's first year in office.

In contrast, satisfaction in the Yongkang (永康) and Rende (仁德) areas remains steady at 50%, while the Xinying (新營) and Baihe (白河) areas report a lower satisfaction rate of 47%. Tsai Yu-hui (蔡育輝), a Tainan Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) city councilor, attributes the dissatisfaction among the 30-39 age group to insufficient job opportunities and slow progress on major infrastructure projects.

Chen Huang-yu (陳皇宇), a Tainan Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) city councilor, highlights ongoing improvements in work environments, economic development, and transportation infrastructure, particularly in Madou and Jiali. Huang responded by affirming the city's commitment to enhancing smart transportation systems and public transit alongside developing the technology industry zone.

The survey, which contacted 1,022 Tainan residents over 20 years old and successfully interviewed 919, carries a sampling error of ±3.2 percentage points. Observers will closely watch how these satisfaction levels impact future municipal developments and political dynamics in Tainan.
