TAIPEI (TVBS News) — TSMC (台積電)  Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家) revealed on Thursday (March 6) that the increased US$100 billion (nearly NT$3.3 trillion) investment in the States will not affect TSMC's plans in Taiwan, where the company will continue to build 11 production lines as scheduled.

President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and C.C. Wei scheduled a press conference at the Presidential Office at 5 p.m., aiming to address concerns and questions about its announcement to build three new wafer fabs, two packaging plants, and one research and development (R&D) center in the States.

Wei humorously noted the intensity of his recent schedule, which included meeting with two presidents and the media in a short time. He explained that the primary driver for TSMC's U.S. expansion is growing customer demand. He highlighted the importance of local government support, drawing parallels to TSMC's success in Taiwan.

Wei explained the company's strategic advantage lies in its production line. He elaborated on the company's technological advancements, crediting research and production teams for breakthroughs from 5-nm to 1-nm technologies. As TSMC strengthens its global presence, Wei assured that the company's commitment to its shareholders, employees, and societal responsibilities remains unchanged.
