TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei's Department of Labor (臺北市勞動局) conducted a labor inspection at Yun Yun AI Baby Camera Co. (雲云科技), also known as Cubo Ai, on Monday (March 10) following the fatal stabbing of the company's chief technology officer. The inspection revealed the absence of workplace violence prevention measures, prompting authorities to demand improvements within a month.

Taipei labor department official Liang Tsang-chi (梁蒼淇) emphasized the need for employers to establish comprehensive prevention measures and incident response procedures. The department plans to continue educational training and strengthen labor inspections. Failure to comply with the improvement notice within the stipulated time could result in fines ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$150,000.

Kao Boa-hua (高寶華), the city's department commissioner, stressed the severe impact of workplace violence, noting the loss of life and potential negative effects on productivity and employee morale. Kao urged businesses to prioritize safety measures and establish effective mechanisms to ensure a secure working environment for employees.

The late Cubo Ai's CTO, identified by the surname Liang, posted a lengthy message on social media before his death, alleging workplace bullying, and a 57-minute audio recording surfaced, purportedly detailing harassment by the company's chairman, identified by the surname Tseng. Tseng reportedly stabbed Liang to death during a resignation meeting last Friday, before trying to take his own life with the same knife.

The Taiwan-based startup CuboAi pioneer in making AI technology-driven baby monitors. It achieved nearly NT$0.5 billion in revenue, with 80% coming from overseas markets including Japan and the U.S. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) visited CuboAi's office in 2021, praising it as the country's hidden champions.
