TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Education (教育部) announced Monday (March 10) that two private high schools, Miaoli's Da Cheng High School (大成高中) and Tainan's Shin Rong High School (新榮高中), will cease student enrollment for the 2025 academic year after failing to meet improvement requirements.

The ministry held its seventh meeting of the second session of the Private High School Exit Review Committee (私立高級中等以上學校退場審議會) on Monday afternoon. Two-thirds of the committee members attended, deliberating on three private high schools.

According to the ministry, Da Cheng and Shin Rong were under special guidance as per Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the "Act Governing the Closure of Private Educational Institutions at Senior High School or Higher Level" (私立高級中等以上學校退場條例). The schools did not achieve the necessary improvements within the stipulated period, leading to the decision to stop all enrollment and operations by the end of the 2025 academic year.

In contrast, Miaoli's Long Der Vocational High School (龍德家商) received a favorable outcome. More than half of the committee members agreed that the school no longer met the conditions for special guidance, granting the school a reprieve from closure.
