TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's premier luxury train, "Future-The Moving Beauty" (鳴日號), has teamed up with Michelin three-star chef Ken Chan (陳偉強) to offer a unique moving feast priced at NT$18,800 per person. The collaboration aims to provide an exquisite dining experience featuring dishes inspired by local ingredients from the regions the train traverses.
Passengers can indulge in exclusive delicacies in the "Future-The Moving Kitchen" (鳴日廚房), such as Buddha's head fruit-flavored fried tofu milk (釋迦口味炸豆腐奶) and a signature dish crafted with premium abalone (頂級四頭鮑). Other specialties include braised pork sauce (紅燒肉醬) and handmade porcelain sugar nets (青花瓷糖網). The train also features a creative dessert box designed to resemble a Taiwan Railway bento, capturing the attention of many travelers.
Chefs Wang Fu-li (王輔立) and Ken Chan spent six months perfecting the menu, overcoming challenges related to cooking conditions and ingredient preservation on a moving train. Also, the "Shanlan Express" (山嵐號) offers an immersive experience along the Huadong Valley (花東縱谷) mountain line, engaging travelers' senses of sight, smell, and taste.
Meanwhile, the "Haifeng Express" (海風號) attracts dessert enthusiasts with its Tiffany blue design, Michelin one-star ice cream, and exclusive macarons. This innovative approach to luxury train dining showcases the chefs' dedication to using local ingredients and creativity, setting a new standard for culinary experiences on the rails.
