TAIPEI (TVBS News) — vivo launched its flagship foldable phone, the vivo X Fold5, in Taiwan on Wednesday (July 9). The phone aims to address common issues like bulkiness, battery life, and imaging performance. vivo Taiwan President Chen Yi-ting (陳怡婷) expressed optimism about the demand for foldable phones in the Taiwanese market.
vivo has risen to third place in Taiwan's market share this year, surpassing OPPO and trailing only Apple and Samsung. Chen noted the growing interest in foldable phones, emphasizing that many current models suffer from being heavy, having poor battery life, and offering subpar camera performance. The vivo X Fold5, weighing 217 grams and 9.2 millimeters thick, features 80W fast and 40W wireless charging.
Continuing its collaboration with Zeiss, the vivo X Fold5 includes a super telephoto lens and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The phone's waterproof rating has improved to IPX8. Chen mentioned that vivo's earlier shift towards the mid-to-high-end market aligns with current market demands, predicting a nearly 50% increase in sales revenue this year.
