TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan prepares for diverse weather conditions Tuesday (Aug. 19) as meteorologist Chia Hsin-hsing (賈新興) forecasts predominantly cloudy to clear skies across the island with regional precipitation variations. The Hengchun Peninsula Taiwan's southernmost tip will experience brief showers, while heavy rainfall is anticipated in western and eastern mountainous regions throughout the day. Central and southern mountain areas face potential short-duration intense precipitation events that could impact transportation and outdoor activities.

Meteorologist Chia emphasized that tropical depression TD15 remains in atmospheric conditions unfavorable for intensification into a more powerful storm system. The weather expert predicted isolated brief precipitation along the Changhua coast southward early Wednesday (Aug. 20) with scattered mountain showers throughout the island. Extended forecasts indicate sporadic rainfall across various regions from Aug. 21 to 28, with particularly notable precipitation in southern and eastern mountainous areas during this period.

The meteorologist advised vigilant monitoring of another tropical system developing near Luzon from Aug. 23 to 24, warning that atmospheric conditions from Aug. 23 to Sept. 5 could potentially favor typhoon formation in the region. Chia cautioned that forecast uncertainty increases significantly beyond five-day projections due to complex atmospheric dynamics and unpredictable weather system interactions. He urged residents to maintain awareness of evolving weather conditions through regular updates from official meteorological sources. ◼
