EVA Air expands North American network (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's EVA Air (長榮航空) announced Tuesday (Aug. 26) a strategic partnership with Southwest Airlines (西南航空), America's largest domestic carrier. The collaboration allows passengers to connect seamlessly through major U.S. cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago. EVA Air aims to expand its North American reach by tapping into Southwest's extensive domestic network across the United States.

Southwest Airlines operates more than 800 aircraft as America's largest domestic carrier, EVA Air detailed in its press release Tuesday. The partnership enables passengers to book connecting flights through EVA Air's website or various travel platforms. Travelers will benefit from streamlined check-in processes, direct baggage handling, and seamless transfers. The collaboration represents a significant expansion of EVA Air's connectivity options for passengers traveling within the United States.

EVA Air joined Star Alliance in 2013, the world's largest airline alliance encompassing multiple carriers globally. The Taiwanese carrier has since established partnerships with several Americas-based airlines including Air Canada, Avianca, Copa Airlines, and United Airlines. EVA Air currently operates 89 weekly flights to North America and plans to increase service to 94 flights per week by the end of this year, demonstrating its commitment to expanding trans-Pacific connectivity. ◼
