TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Changhua County, a historic region in central Taiwan, launched Thursday (Aug. 28) an innovative musical initiative for the Taiwan Design Expo'25 (2025台灣設計展) scheduled for October. The county government opened submissions for the "Changhua Youth Original Soundtrack," seeking original compositions to create a distinctive audio experience for the prestigious design exhibition. The cultural showcase will spotlight the ancient port town of Lukang (鹿港), famous for its traditional temples and crafts, as the expo runs from Oct. 10 to Oct. 26 across multiple venues throughout the county.
County officials revealed that the centerpiece "Live In Belief" (殿氣現場) exhibition will occupy the assembly hall of the Asia Pacific Resort Lukang (亞太鹿港渡假村集會堂), a prominent venue in Taiwan's historic cultural district. The immersive musical exhibition seeks to transform Changhua's deep cultural heritage into an engaging auditory journey for visitors. Officials specifically encourage diverse submissions including graduation-themed compositions, youth band performances, and original melodies that authentically capture the nostalgic essence of Changhua's collective memories and traditions.
County authorities partnered with StreetVoice (街聲), Taiwan's leading independent music platform, to manage the digital collection and organization of soundtrack submissions. This collaborative approach democratizes the curation process by inviting public participation in connecting personal youthful experiences with Changhua's broader cultural storytelling through music. The StreetVoice platform will systematically compile daily submissions, while the Taiwan Design Expo's specialized "Live In Belief" curatorial team will evaluate and select the most compelling tracks for inclusion.
The curatorial team will unveil selected compositions on Sept. 22, with chosen works earning prominent placement in the exhibition's official online playlist. This groundbreaking initiative simultaneously honors Changhua's centuries-old cultural traditions while providing emerging Taiwanese artists with valuable exposure through participation in one of the island's most significant annual design celebrations. The program represents a unique fusion of traditional heritage preservation and contemporary artistic expression within Taiwan's evolving cultural landscape. ◼
