The team crushed Palestine 14-0, South Korea 10-0, and Hong Kong 11-0 without conceding a single point since competition began on Sept. 22. Taiwan faces Japan Friday (Sept. 26) in the tournament's next phase.
Chang Chun-wei (張峻瑋) will start as pitcher against Japan, bringing his formidable 158 km/h (98.2 mph) fastball to the crucial matchup. The Super Round features Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and China competing for two spots in the championship finals. Taiwan enters this decisive phase having maintained a perfect defensive record throughout preliminary competition.
Taiwan's balanced roster includes 10 pitchers, three catchers, seven infielders, and five outfielders for the eight-team continental tournament. The championship concludes Saturday (Sept. 28) with matches at Pingtan Park and Pingtan Baseball Park.
