TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Thunder Tiger Technology (雷虎科技) announced its participation in the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) Drone Dominance Program, a US$1 billion project. The DoD aims to procure over 300,000 low-cost, single-use attack drones by 2027. And Thunder Tiger's Overkill FPV suicide drone series is already Blue UAS certified.
The DoD formally launched the Drone Dominance Program on Dec. 2, and it plans to begin the first phase of its four-stage elimination process on Feb. 16, 2026. This phase will select 25 qualified suppliers to conduct live test evaluations, with the first order of 30,000 drones expected by July 2026. Thunder Tiger stands out as the first and only Taiwanese company on the Blue UAS Cleared List, a significant achievement for the nation.
Thunder Tiger has established a military-grade production line in Taiwan, capable of producing thousands of drones monthly. The company plans to commence production in Ohio during the first quarter of 2026. If Thunder Tiger successfully secures a place among the 25 suppliers, it will mark the first instance of a Taiwanese civilian defense firm securing a significant contract with the U.S. military. This development could pave the way for more Taiwanese companies to enter the global defense market, highlighting Taiwan's growing technological capabilities.
