The Taiwanese-Latvian duo, ranked as the top seeds in the women's doubles at the WTA 500 event, secured their first victory of the 2026 season ahead of the Australian Open. Hsieh is now Taiwan's only remaining player in the tournament after Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) and Wu Fang-hsien (吳芳嫺) exited in the first round.
Hsieh and Ostapenko faced Australia's Olivia Gadecki and Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova in the opening round of the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament, a WTA 500 event that serves as a precursor to the Australian Open.
