TAIPEI (TVBS News) — MediaTek (聯發科), Taiwan's leading semiconductor company, launched its Wi-Fi 8 platform, the Filogic 8000 series, on Tuesday (Jan. 6), positioning itself as an industry leader in next-generation wireless technology. The new chip targets broadband gateways, enterprise AP gateways, and various terminal devices, with first samples expected later this year. The announcement marks a significant advancement in wireless connectivity standards.
MediaTek showcased its Wi-Fi 8 solutions at CES, the consumer electronics trade show in Las Vegas. Hsu Hao-chun (許皓鈞), the company's vice president, emphasized in a press release MediaTek's commitment to advancing next-generation wireless technology and solidifying its leadership in Wi-Fi innovation. Kevin Robinson, president and CEO of the Wi-Fi Alliance, stated that MediaTek's pioneering Wi-Fi 8 solution sample is a prime example of the industry's strong growth momentum.
Wireless networks face increasing congestion and interference as the number of connected devices grows, leading to unstable connections and slow response times, according to the company's press release. MediaTek states that Wi-Fi 8 will deliver more stable connectivity and ultra-low latency response times for high-load scenarios, improving user experience significantly. The technology specifically targets applications heavily utilizing AI technology, addressing growing demands for reliable wireless performance in modern digital environments.
