TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) will visit Taiwan at the end of January, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) announced Wednesday (Jan. 7), while extending an invitation to attend the signing ceremony for Nvidia's headquarters project in Taipei. The event aims to solidify the chipmaker's engagement with Taiwan and advance the company's expansion plans in the city.

The mayor initially invited Huang in a letter in November and reiterated the invitation during a meeting with Scott Ekman, Nvidia's Global Vice President of Real Estate & Site Services. Chiang expressed hopes that Huang will attend Nvidia's year-end party and visit the T17 and T18 sites at Beitou Shilin Technology Park (北投士林科技園區, BSTP), as well as the nearby Tudigong (土地公) Temple, a local earth god shrine, to enhance his understanding of the local environment.

Taipei City Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨), Taiwan's main opposition party, Councilor Tseng Hsien-ying (曾獻瑩) highlighted the urgency of the signing timeline, noting the city government may not complete all administrative procedures by late January. Tseng recommended prioritizing the signing ceremony and ensuring the contract specifies it will take effect once all procedures are finalized. He advised the city government to clearly communicate progress to maximize the opportunity from Huang's visit. ◼
