TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健) attended a media gathering on Monday (Jan. 19) in Taipei to promote his Taiwanese drama, "Million-Follower Detective" (百萬人推理), which will premiere on Netflix globally on Feb. 12. Cheng expressed appreciation for the enjoyable filming experience in Taiwan, highlighting the differences between Hong Kong and Taiwanese work styles. He thanked director Su Wen Sheng (蘇三毛) for his meticulous arrangements.

Cheng humorously admitted to gaining weight while filming due to the delicious food provided by the crew. He maintains his physique by relying on his appearance rather than weighing himself. Cheng also shared that his wife, Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧), couldn't accompany him to Taiwan as she was studying Japanese, and his only friend in Taiwan, Shu Qi, was unavailable.

During breaks, Cheng enjoyed shopping at Guanghua Market using an EasyCard gifted by a fan, often getting recognized despite wearing a mask. Initially planning a two-week vacation after filming, he ended up in a 14-day hotel quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 test following the final action scenes.

Co-star Patty Lee (大霈) noted Cheng's unchanged youthful appearance, attributing it to his playful activities like gaming. Fellow actor Shou Lou (婁峻碩) revealed Cheng's enthusiasm for video games, even persuading others to purchase the same consoles.

"Million-Follower Detective" features Kent Tsai (蔡凡熙) as Wei Yan, a social media influencer involved in a shooting incident with Cheng's character, Detective Chen Chia-jen. As the plot unfolds, Chen, along with police officer Li Xin-ping, played by Patty Lee, investigates a series of murders targeting influencers. Chen collaborates with influencer Lin Ting-yu, known as "Yuzu," portrayed by Shou Lou, to leverage social media in solving the case.
