TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Health and Welfare confirmed Tuesday (June 13) of negative drug results for 26 preschoolers, while one student's result is pending.

According to the ministry, 27 preschoolers sought medical attention following the accusation of a New Taipei kindergarten feeding sedatives. They have been tested for barbiturates in their urine.

Two of the first 14 children tested showed anxiety, insomnia, and irritability symptoms.

The Hospital and Social Welfare Organizations Administration Commission Director, Lin Ching-feng, said the results were about the same as predicted, as the substances may have passed their half-life or have been metabolized.

He added that four children were from the original kindergarten where the story broke.

When asked if the eight students with traces of barbiturates found in their bodies were among the 27 children, Lin said he was unsure but would provide the test results to the New Taipei City Government to compare.

New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih remains resolute, vows not to retreat from addressing the issues, telling reporters that he "never shies away from problems" and "will provide explanations and reports to address the doubts of the general public."
