TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a sharply worded critique, Kuomintang (KMT) Hou Yu-ih's campaign office spokesman, Chen Po-han, on Wednesday (Dec. 6) accused Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) Lai Ching-te of vague and inconsistent responses on key issues, including a kindergarten drug administration case, "Trojan Horse" military exercises, and the opening of Taiwan's labor market to Indian workers.

Chen claimed that Lai had fabricated the false information that "several million Chinese students would be allowed to work in Taiwan" regarding the "three links" across the Taiwan Strait, a rumor that rapidly spread throughout society.

In addition, he explicitly noted that the Ministry of National Defense (MND) had conducted military exercises simulating the scenario where Chinese military aircraft might hide among civilian planes to launch urban attacks, a reference to the "Trojan Horse" exercise.

Meanwhile, Hou's office pointed out that the Taiwan FactCheck Center had identified the rumor of "opening up to 100,000 Indian workers" as false information and questioned Lai's past public statements.

Counteracting criticism, Chen reiterated that Hou Yu-ih has consistently opposed the 'one country, two systems' framework and would handle the issue of mainland Chinese working in Taiwan in accordance with current regulations.

Chen also highlighted Hou's comprehensive policy platforms, asserting Hou had clear plans for healthcare, cross-strait relations, energy, social housing, education, elder care, social services, and public safety.

This strong defense of Hou's policy record comes amidst a highly charged political atmosphere, as misinformation and policy are at the forefront of public discourse.
