TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A top Taipei official announced on Thursday (Dec. 7), with the venue expecting to hold a full-capacity crowd of 40,000 people in future games, the Transportation Department plans to open additional parking lots and exits at the Taipei MRT stations to ease congestion.

Following the successful opening of the Asian Baseball Championship last Sunday, the Taipei Dome is stepping up its preparations, anticipating larger crowds, according to Lin Yu-sheng, head of the Traffic Regulation Division at the Taipei City Government Transportation Department.

Currently, the audience numbers for the championship games have been increasing, with estimates reaching 22,000 fans for the final and semi-final matches.

To address these growing numbers, Lin noted that there are plans to unlock exit 5 of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station on the Bannan Line, which connects directly to the underground passageways of Taipei Dome.

Despite the availability of parking facilities at the Dome, which currently sees only 43 percent usage, Lin observed more than 90 percent of attendees prefer to take public transportation.

Lin endorsed this trend and encouraged the public to continue using mass transit systems. He envisioned that the additional metro station exits would promote smoother traffic dispersion around the event venue as seating capacity increases.
