TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) reported that on Saturday (Dec. 9), Taiwan will experience mainly stable weather with clear to cloudy skies, except for isolated rain showers in the eastern half of the island.

With the effect of radiative cooling, the early morning temperatures were cooler in some areas, with lows around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in the western half and the northeastern regions. Hualien, Taitung, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung areas saw temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees, potentially even lower along the coasts and in the mountains.

Temperatures are expected to rise rapidly during the day, with forecast highs of 27 to 29 degrees in the central and southern parts of Taiwan, and around 26 to 28 degrees in the north and east. The western half will experience a greater difference between day and night temperatures.

According to the latest simulation analysis by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) on Dec. 8 at 8 p.m., clear to cloudy skies with significant diurnal temperature ranges are expected for Taiwan from Saturday until Monday, with the possibility of scattered light rain in the eastern parts of the island.

Temperature ranges forecast for Dec. 9 are: 14 to 30 degrees in the north, 15 to 29 degrees in the central region, 15 to 30 degrees in the south, and 14 to 30 degrees in the east.

By next Tuesday (Dec. 12), the northeast monsoon will affect the region to the north of Taoyuan and the eastern half of the island, bringing local brief rains. The cold air mass is relatively weak, leading to cooler daytime weather in northern Taiwan, with minimal change in low temperatures.

The forecast for next Wednesday (Dec. 13), indicates the northeast monsoon will weaken, resulting in clear weather in the west and short, local rains in the east, with temperatures starting to climb again.

For Thursday and Friday (Dec. 14 and 15) Taiwan can expect sunny to cloudy skies across the island, with temperatures continuing to rise and weather trending warmer.
