TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) announced on Friday (Dec. 8) the progression of Kaohsiung Airport's new terminal. With the preliminary engineering's essential design phase completed, the project is set to be tendered, according to CAA official Lin Hung-hsien.
The new terminal at Kaohsiung Airport marks the largest construction project following Taoyuan International Airport's third terminal. This infrastructure advancement reflects Taiwan's push to modernize its aviation facilities and enhance passenger capacity.
Lin also shared the completion of upgrade constructions for Taichung, Taitung, and Matsu Nangan airports during the pandemic.
Matsu Nangan Airport celebrated the inauguration of its refurbished terminal and a brand new second terminal in May of this year, increasing its annual capacity from 410,000 to 570,000 passengers.
An overall improvement project for the existing terminal at Taichung Airport was completed in July, boosting its capacity to a significant 3.69 million passengers.
In Taitung, enhancements to the airport's taxiways and apron were finalized in November, setting the stage for the accommodation of larger aircraft in the future.
