TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Following a security incident at a Taoyuan City university on Thursday (Dec. 7), where a man attacked four students, concerns about campus safety measures have surfaced. The incident revealed a lack of surveillance cameras in the school's administrative building corridors, prompting calls for improved security measures.

In response, the university administration has announced plans to increase patrols, install additional surveillance cameras, and identify 14 potentially high-risk areas on campus for student awareness.

To enhance emergency response capabilities, panic buttons have been installed in female and accessible restrooms, and emergency phones have been placed next to elevators.

The school also advises students to avoid walking alone or leaving the campus late and to remain vigilant regarding potential safety risks.

The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. when a man named Wang unlawfully entered the campus. He initially assaulted a clerk in a campus convenience store, who promptly alerted campus security. Wang then attacked four students outside the administrative building, including two females and two males.

Students and campus security personnel managed to subdue Wang until the police arrived and took him into custody at a local police station.
