Taiwan expands online passport booking to four applicants (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant move to improve the efficiency of passport application services, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced Tuesday (Dec. 19) that individuals will now be able to book appointments for up to four passport applications at once online, an increase from the previous limit of one.

This change, effective since Sunday (Dec. 17), comes in response to a surge in passport applications following the reopening of international borders after the pandemic.

The ministry's Bureau of Consular Affairs urged the public to take advantage of the enhanced 'Individual Passport Application Form Filling and Appointment System' to schedule appointments in advance and reduce waiting times at passport service locations.

In addition to the expanded appointment booking capabilities, the bureau's official website offers a real-time feature that enables individuals to check the current number being served and the number of people waiting. This online service aims to help applicants avoid long queues, providing a convenient way to plan their visits to the passport offices.

For those with questions about the updated system or in need of assistance, the Bureau of Consular Affairs has made information readily available through the 'Passport Q&A->Individual Passport Application Form Filling System Section' on their website.

Additionally, a dedicated passport inquiry hotline is available to offer further help to the public. The ministry's efforts reflect its commitment to adapting public services to meet the evolving needs of citizens in the post-pandemic era.
