TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese badminton player Lee Yang, 28, announced his retirement on Tuesday (March 26) at a press conference during the Wu Wen-Ta Memorial Badminton Championships.

Lee, who has made a name for himself in men's doubles alongside Wang Chi-lin, said he hopes to cap off his career with a gold medal at the Paris Olympics this year. The pair, known as "Lin-Yang," have won numerous international competitions and honors.

 

Their crowning achievement was winning the gold medal in men's doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a significant milestone in Taiwan's badminton history.

After retiring, Lee plans to transition into teaching or coaching. His decision to retire comes after a successful career that has seen him become one of Taiwan's most prominent badminton players. His partnership with Wang has been a highlight, with the pair becoming a dominant force in men's doubles.
