PINGTUNG (TVBS News) — The 2024 Taiwan Music Festival, held from April 4 to April 6, attracted over a million attendees, bringing significant economic benefits to the Hengchun Peninsula. The event boosted local businesses, including accommodations, restaurants, souvenir shops, and vendors, generating over NT$ 1 billion in revenue.

Lin Jung-chin, chairman of the Tourism Industry League of Hengchun Peninsula, said this was the most successful event in the past eight to nine years. He thanked the Pingtung County government and all the staff of the Taiwan Music Festival for their efforts in driving local economic development.

Yu Sung-hua, chairman of the Pingtung County Lodging Association, noted that while the enthusiasm of music fans was high, their self-discipline was noticeably better than in past festivals. He expressed hope that the music brand would continue to shine and become Taiwan's largest music brand. Yu also said the festival provided a free platform for local bands and music lovers to immerse themselves and enjoy the music, making it a very healthy music event.

This year marked the fourth Taiwan Music Festival, which revived the spirit of early independent music in Kenting, receiving a significant response from music fans. Over three days, more than a million people entered the venue, not only cultivating more independent music fans but also enhancing the musical tourism elements of the Hengchun Peninsula.

Despite some isolated incidents of disorderly behavior at the festival, the organizers promptly addressed the issues. Music fans also actively condemned and identified troublemakers, showing appreciation for the Taiwan Music Festival brand.
