Brief showers expected on Saturday (TVBS News) Taiwan temperatures soar as northeast monsoon weakens
Brief showers expected on Saturday (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The weakening northeast monsoon is causing temperatures to rise across Taiwan, with northern Taiwan reaching up to 31 degrees Celsius and the south up to 34 degrees on Thursday (April 11).

Weather expert Lin Te-en predicts temperatures will continue to rise due to southeast-to-south winds. Meanwhile, the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions could experience highs of 30 to 31 degrees Celsius, while central and southern regions could reach 32 to 34 degrees Celsius or higher.

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated that despite the weakening northeast monsoon, there is still a coolness in the early morning. The western region will experience a larger temperature difference between day and night, and humidity will decrease.

Only the eastern and southeastern regions will experience scattered, brief showers, while other areas will be mostly sunny, with brief showers in the northeastern region and the mountains in the west in the afternoon.

On Saturday (April 13), a front will pass over the northern sea of Taiwan. In addition to increased humidity, the environment will also become more unstable. Convection may be more vigorous, with the eastern and southeastern regions experiencing local, brief showers or thunderstorms.

Other areas will be mostly sunny, with local, brief thunderstorms in the northern, and northeastern regions and the mountains in the central and southern regions in the afternoon.
