TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu Jaushieh reported Taiwan's international cooperation development and future goals to the Legislative Yuan Foreign and National Defense Committee on Monday (April 15).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has conducted overseas aid work for over 60 years, establishing 20 missions in 19 countries worldwide. Approximately 130 experts, technicians, and Mandarin teachers are stationed overseas, assisting with Taiwan's leading industry technology, forming the unique "Taiwan Model."

Regarding food security, MOFA has implemented plans to increase agricultural supply and pest control in Pacific countries such as Tuvalu, Palau, and the Marshall Islands, as well as in New Southbound countries and partner countries in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

In public health and medical care, permanent medical teams have been established in Pacific ally countries and Eswatini. Chronic disease prevention programs are also being carried out in partner countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

MOFA stated that the scope of cooperation will include environmental protection, maintaining biodiversity, and achieving net-zero carbon emissions. The ministry plans to expand coordination of resources across various ministries and public and private sectors, including non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, and civil society groups, to enhance the capacity of overseas aid work.
