TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Weather expert Daniel Wu said Tuesday (May 14) that a front in the Bashi Channel may bring brief, localized showers to northern Taiwan and some mountainous areas. Temperatures in northern Taiwan are expected to be cooler, ranging from 15 to 24 degrees Celsius.

Due to the influence of dry, cold air from the north and radiative cooling, temperatures in the plains of northern Taiwan could drop below 15 degrees Celsius before Friday morning. Wu advised residents to dress warmly.

Wu also noted that the latest models show stable, sunny weather from Wednesday to next Monday, with occasional light rain in the mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoons. Daytime temperatures will be hot, while mornings and evenings will be cooler, resulting in a significant difference in day and night temperatures.

Looking ahead, Wu said that a "tropical disturbance" could potentially form in the seas east of the Philippines over the next week to 10 days. However, its development is slow and there is no chance of it affecting Taiwan. Similar simulations have been observed in other countries' models, and continued monitoring is needed.
