TAIPEI (TVBS News)—Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) explained on Thursday (July 25) that a staff error led to an early Facebook announcement about the suspension of work and classes.

The premature post, made at 7:18 p.m. on Wednesday, was deleted within two minutes but had already been widely circulated by online users.

The incident raised questions as Keelung City, Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Taoyuan City had agreed to announce work and class suspension decisions simultaneously at 8 p.m.

Chiang clarified the city government had prepared two versions of the announcement — one for normal operations and one for suspension. He said that during a formatting test, the social media manager accidentally published one version and promptly deleted it upon discovery.

Taipei City Councilor Yen Juo-fang (顏若芳) expressed skepticism, stating that this indicates a very unprofessional team, causing inconvenience to other city leaders.

Councilor Ho Meng-hua (何孟樺) criticized the mishap, stating that she hopes the Taipei City Government improves efficiency and stops being so slow.

The public awaits further developments as the Taipei City Government addresses this error. Observers will be watching closely to see how the administration handles future communications.
