TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) on Tuesday (Aug. 13) announced on Facebook that the head of Taiwan's Representative Office in France, François Wu (吳志中), will return to Taiwan to assume the role of deputy foreign minister. Wu aims to deepen Taiwan-Europe relations through his new position.

Lin highlighted Wu's efforts since the Tokyo Olympics to prepare for this year's Games, ensuring optimal training and logistics for Taiwanese athletes. The commune, Levallois-Perret, has provided accessible facilities for the Taiwanese team, showcasing a strong Taiwan-France friendship.

Wu also supported boxer Lin Yu-ting (林郁婷) amid international bullying and assisted the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC, 中華奧林匹克委員會) and Sports Administration (體育署) in organizing a press conference. Wu's communication with international media has garnered positive support.

Lin praised the Taiwanese Olympic heroes for their perseverance and for showcasing Taiwan's kindness, resilience, and strength. He also thanked the behind-the-scenes heroes, including staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, 外交部), Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部), Ministry of Culture (MOC, 文化部), and the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC, 中華民國僑務委員會), for their dedication to the Taiwanese team.
