TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) suspended Legislator Huang Shan-shan (黃珊珊) for three years and expelled finance chief Lee Wen-tsung (李文宗) and accountant Tuanmu Cheng (端木正) during its Central Advisory Committee meeting held on Tuesday (Aug. 20). This decision stems from irregularities in campaign finance reporting that have tarnished the party's reputation.

Huang, despite retaining her legislative seat, faces an uncertain future in the 2026 local elections. On Facebook, Huang stated, "I respect and accept the decision of the Central Advisory Committee and will continue working with campaign colleagues to clarify the related accounts."

The committee highlighted that, as the campaign manager for the 16th presidential and vice-presidential elections, Huang held ultimate authority over all administrative matters. Yet, multiple reporting discrepancies have severely impacted the party's image. The Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutors Office (臺北地檢署) is currently investigating the case.

The committee also noted Huang's extensive experience in election activities since 1998, including roles as Taipei City Councilor, Deputy Mayor of Taipei, and current Legislator. Her legal background and familiarity with political donations and criminal law should have prevented such issues. Huang acknowledged her willingness to bear political responsibility and agreed to the formation of a special investigative team.

TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) now faces heightened scrutiny over the party's integrity.
