TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) suspended Huang Shan-shan (黃珊珊) for three years following the reveal of party financial discrepancies, preventing her from running in the 2026 Taipei mayoral election.

The TPP's Central Advisory Committee made this decision a day earlier, also expelling Lee Wen-tsung (李文宗) and Tuanmu Cheng (端木正) from the party. Huang attended the meeting and provided explanations for nearly two hours, while Lee and Cheng were absent.

Secretary-General Chou Yu-hsiu (周榆修) clarified that the suspension halts all internal party powers, including primaries, registrations, and nominations. "During the suspension, Huang will not be able to represent the TPP in running for Taipei City mayor in 2026," he emphasized.

Deputy Secretary-General Osmar Hsu (許甫) and Chou joined New Taipei City Councilor Jimmy Chen's (陳世軒) YouTube program on Tuesday night to discuss current events.

Chou further stated that the TPP is considering a reform for the 2026 election, which would require candidates to sign an agreement for financial oversight, although the proposal remains in its early stages.

The TPP deputy secretary-general also revealed that the party might conduct random audits of candidates' finances to learn from past mistakes and meet supporters' expectations.

The TPP has established an emergency response team and plans to expand decision-making participation to include more voices, aiming to improve decision quality.
