TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will inaugurate the Healthy Taiwan Promotion Committee on Thursday (Aug. 22). The committee aims to address critical health issues, including pediatric care, cancer prevention, long-term care services, mental health, Indigenous people's health, and healthcare workers' environments.

President Lai introduced the "Healthy Taiwan" concept during his campaign and held numerous forums to gather public input before taking office. The committee's primary goal is to ensure comprehensive, age-inclusive healthcare, and it will explore various topics such as pediatric care and cancer prevention.

The committee comprises nine advisers and 20 members. Nine advisers represent major medical institutions across Taiwan, including Wu Ming-shiang (吳明賢), superintendent of National Taiwan University Hospital, and Chen Wei-ming (陳威明), superintendent of Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

The committee members include professionals like Lin Te-wen (林德文), chair of the Medical Association for Indigenous People of Taiwan, and Kuo Su-e (郭素娥), chair of the Taiwan Dietitian Association.

The committee aims to promote not only a healthy Taiwan but also a balanced Taiwan, striving to enhance public health and fulfill President Lai's policy vision. This initiative marks a new chapter in Taiwan's healthcare policy, promising significant advancements.
