TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Quanta (廣達電腦) executive addressed media queries on Monday (Aug. 26) about Nvidia's (輝達) chip shipments, asserting that the company's demand remains stable. His comments followed recent reports suggesting potential delays of at least three months for Nvidia's Blackwell chips due to design flaws.

Quanta Chairman Barry Lam (林百里) spoke at the 2024 BioTaiwan Committee meeting (BTC, 2024生技產業策略諮議委員會議), where he delivered the keynote speech titled "Rethink Smart Health with AI" (智慧健康的新思維). After the event, he briefly engaged with the media but remained reticent about Nvidia's chip shipments and Quanta's performance outlook.

Reports indicated that the potential delay of Nvidia's Blackwell chips could impact major clients, including Meta Platforms, Google, and Microsoft.

Quanta reported record-breaking figures for the second quarter this year, achieving historical highs in gross profit, operating profit, and net profit after tax. The company recorded earnings per share of NT$3.92 for the quarter and NT$7.06 for the year's first half.

During an investor conference on Aug. 9, Quanta noted that improvements in GPU supply and increased AI server momentum have begun to revive general server demand. The company stated that recent market noise regarding new GPU shipments has not affected its outlook on AI servers, and it is anticipating more excellent contributions in the second half of the year.
