TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's northeastern coast and north coast could see brief showers on Friday (Sept. 13) due to moisture from a low-pressure system. Afternoon thunderstorms will affect mountainous areas south of Chiayi (嘉義), while other regions expect partly cloudy to sunny weather, weather experts said.
Liao Yu-ting (廖于霆), an analyst at WeatherRisk, noted that temperatures could reach 34 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan. Central and southern parts may see temperatures ranging from 33 to 34°C, while the eastern regions will experience 32 to 33°C.
As Typhoon Bebinca (貝碧佳) approaches, showers are likely in mountainous and flat areas north of Miaoli (苗栗). The typhoon, currently 1,700 kilometers southeast of Taiwan, is moving northwest. It is expected to pass north of Naha (那霸), Japan, on Sept. 14 from afternoon to evening.
Although Typhoon Bebinca will not directly impact Taiwan, its outer circulation will bring showers on Sept. 14. Rainfall will decrease on Sept. 15 as wind directions change. By Sept. 16 to 17, eastern Taiwan will experience more clouds and brief showers, while the western areas will remain partly cloudy to sunny.
