TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Michelle Lee (李慧芝) assumed her role as the new spokesperson for the Executive Yuan (行政院) on Friday (Sept. 13).
Lee announced on Facebook that she is ready to take on her new duties, emphasizing the importance of not only communicating policies but also fostering dialogue between the government and the public.
Lee, a former anchor for Formosa Television (FTV, 民視), joins a trend of former news anchors assuming spokesperson roles in the government.
This announcement has sparked discussions about her capability to handle the responsibilities, as previous spokespersons needed a deep understanding of governmental affairs and policies. Lee has yet to respond to these concerns.
In her Facebook post, she expressed gratitude to Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) for his support and recognition. She also thanked acting spokesperson Julia Hsieh (謝子涵) for her leadership.
Lee said she views this position as a new challenge and aims to strengthen communication between the government and society, creating a seamless information platform.
Lee said she believes that effective communication is crucial for building solid trust. She plans to leverage her experience to clearly convey national policies to every citizen.
She noted that only through good communication can we establish stronger trust. She reiterated her readiness to take on her new duties, aiming to foster dialogue and work towards a better future for all.
Observers will closely watch how Lee navigates her new role and whether she can meet the high expectations set for her.
