TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei City Government (新北市政府) has launched the inaugural 2024 Venture Star (新北新創之星) competition, which focuses on AI and sustainability. This initiative attracted 74 startup teams and culminated on Nov. 19, when the top 10 teams competed. A tech company specializing in AI and cloud streaming emerged victorious.
The winning team secured a cash prize and entry into the youth startup hubs in New Taipei City. Award-winning CEO Hung Chi-ming (洪頎茗) expressed optimism about Taiwan's AI opportunities, stating the company hopes to enhance visibility and attract investors for international market entry. Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) also announced plans to support young entrepreneurs by offering venture capital and two startup hubs in the coming months.
Marcia Qiu (邱兆梅), head of the New Taipei City Government Youth Department (新北市青年局), emphasized the need for capital in the tech industry. She stated that the department will assist entrepreneurs in promoting ideas and enhancing fundraising capabilities. These efforts aim to turn young entrepreneurs' innovative ideas into operational realities, making their entrepreneurial dreams achievable.
