TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) has maintained a steady approval rating of 66%, according to a recent survey conducted by the TVBS Poll Center from Nov. 26 to Dec. 3. The survey revealed that 27% of respondents are very satisfied with her administration, while 39% are somewhat satisfied.

The approval rating remains nearly identical to the 67% recorded in January, when Lu marked one year since her re-election. However, the percentage of those who were very satisfied decreased by 6 percentage points. Among age groups, residents aged 40 to 59 show the highest satisfaction, with rates hovering around 75%.

Meanwhile, satisfaction among residents aged 20 to 29 stands at 51%, but the dissatisfaction rate has increased by 10 percentage points to 14%, with 35% expressing no opinion. Huang Hsin-hui (黃馨慧), secretary-general of the Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) caucus in the Taichung City Council, noted that Lu's approval rating consistently remains above 65%, aligning closely with public opinion.

Conversely, Joy Chen (陳俞融), a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) councilor for the North District, criticized Mayor Lu for being overly focused on poll numbers and questioned her administrative capabilities. In response, Taichung Deputy Mayor Cheng Chao-hsin (鄭照新) expressed gratitude for the public's recognition and support, assuring that the city government will continue its efforts.

The survey contacted 997 Taichung residents aged 20 and above, with a refusal rate of 8.8%, resulting in 909 valid samples and a sampling error of ±3.3 percentage points.
