TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) on Friday (Jan. 3) emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the military, highlighting that the newly upgraded barracks at Ching Chuan Kang (清泉崗) enhance a sense of belonging among soldiers. The president led the completion ceremony in Taichung for the Ching Chuan Kang camp, inspecting the new living areas and facilities built under the "Hsing An Project" (興安專案).

Lai noted that some barracks at Ching Chuan Kang had been in use for over 50 years. Former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) initiated the "Hsing An Project" to improve the quality of life for military personnel. Lai stated that the new barracks symbolize the vision of creating a comfortable and high-quality service environment that will allow soldiers to focus more on combat training.

The "Hsing An Project" represents the first comprehensive camp reconstruction on a brigade scale, including constructing integrated barracks and multifunctional facilities. Lai expressed hope that the project's achievements would attract quality talent to the military, with the government continuing to promote reforms to enhance the service environment.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by authoritarian forces such as China, North Korea, Iran, and Russia, stressing that the military acts as a stabilizing force in safeguarding national security.
