TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin (鍾東錦) on Friday (April 11) led a delegation to Sichuan, China, for an eight-day visit aimed at gaining insights into agriculture, water resources, and cultural tourism. The trip follows an invitation from the "Sichuan Cross-Strait Exchange Promotion Association" (中國四川海峽兩岸交流促進會) in February, which received central government approval before Chung's departure.
The delegation plans to explore Sichuan's rich historical and cultural sites, including the Dujiangyan (都江堰) irrigation system and the Chengdu Panda Base, which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. According to the county government's itinerary, these visits promise to provide valuable tourism resources for the exchange.
The Miaoli County Government (苗栗縣政府) has outlined a comprehensive agenda that includes visits to the Leshan Giant Buddha (樂山大佛), the Chengdu Panda Base, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, and the Taili Manor(台麗莊園). County officials stated the trip aims to absorb Sichuan's expertise in water resource development, agriculture, conservation, youth empowerment, and cultural tourism to enhance the county's tourism industry.
