TAIPEI (TVBS News) — SEMICON Taiwan 2025, set to run from Sept. 10-12, will break records with participation from 56 countries, over 1,200 companies, more than 4,100 booths, and 17 national pavilions. SEMI made this announcement on Monday (Sept. 8) pre-event press conference, highlighting the global interest in Taiwan's semiconductor sector.

Tien Wu (吳田玉), chairman of SEMI's global board executive committee and CEO of ASE Technology Holding Co., Ltd. (日月光半導體), emphasized Taiwan's leading role in advanced AI and data center processing technologies. He stated Taiwan must propose simple solutions in complex environments to enhance competitiveness and improve customer experience, which is the winning strategy for Taiwan's semiconductor industry.

Wu projected that the global semiconductor industry could surpass $1 trillion in revenue over the next decade. He urged Taiwan to leverage the AI application trend to expand orders and modernize traditional packaging and testing materials. Wu also stressed the importance of utilizing Taiwan's comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem to choose beneficial investment strategies and collaborative platforms.

He noted that SEMI has established advanced packaging CoWOS and silicon photonics platforms in Taiwan, with plans for an energy management platform. Wu believes these initiatives will prepare Taiwan for the value chain reshaping. He concluded by emphasizing Taiwan's need to focus on its most competitive sectors to maintain a diverse overall competitive advantage and ensure sustained leadership over the next decade.
