TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung's shopping district drew large crowds on Saturday (Dec. 13) as over 20 giant cartoon balloons floated through the city's streets in a grand parade. The event, featuring original character designs, attracted families and tourists to the southern Taiwan metropolis, known as Taiwan's second-largest city. Children and adults gathered along the parade route to witness the colorful spectacle marking the festive season.
Popular cartoon characters Bugcat Capoo (貓貓蟲咖波), a beloved Taiwanese internet character, and Robocar Poli (波麗) delighted young fans during the parade. Taiwanese indie band Accusefive (告五人) and their mascot Angry Pig (告五豬) also joined the festivities, prompting parents to arrive early to secure viewing spots for their children. Parents raised phones and cameras to capture Bugcat Capoo's appearance, while the host clarified that Capoo is a bugcat, not a caterpillar.
The parade attracted numerous tourists, with one attendee expressing excitement about seeing Accusefive and Angry Pig and describing the experience as new and special. The giant cartoon balloons created a distinctive and playful atmosphere across Kaohsiung's streets, drawing visitors from across Taiwan.
